Default Where to store new bike?

Just a quick question on where to store my bike? Should it be in a climate controlled environment or is a garage in freezing weather ok?

Nothing like a nice cozy dry climate controlled garage, like where my bikes live. But if there's no coolant to worry about, fill the tank, add some gasoline stabilizer, remove the battery and keep in on a tender, and don't sweat it. Nice if you could jack it up, too, but that's optional.

Where do you think motorcycles sat before people had money to pay for heated garages ? Isn't complicated and they don't fall apart in the cold ......

Mine is indoors and above freezing but I did have to have it in an unheated seacan for a couple winters, didn't hurt it but in either case I keep the battery on the bike with a tender hooked up all winter.

Mine all sit in an unheated shed during the winter with the batteries on tenders. Never had a problem, and always ready for a ride if it warms up to 40* or more.

No need to remove the battery but do put it on Battery Tender. If you don't have a bike cover a blanket or old sheet over it just to keep the dust off. That way, as thumper has said, it is ready to go if the Temp goes up. If the Bike is going to set for more than a week at a time then start it up and let it run till the motor gets up too operating Temp ( helps to keep the moisture out of the oil ).

Cold won't hurt a thing. I wash my bikes twice a year. When I get it out or put it away. Tender as mentioned is a necessity. I leave the battery in the bike. Never have taken one out. Jack it up some if you wish to take pressure off the suspension? Main thing is to treat the gas. I won't use Stabil, Marine or original. I've had too many issues with both. (to each his own) I use Sea Foam to store and use half can per bike in all 3 bikes and never an issue in the spring.

Go for a short ride if I can or run the bike till it warms up to circulate whatever you use in the gas. Either is good. I start my bikes to get rid of moisture, never a problem.

Depends if you are concerned about the bike itself or your wife finding it...if the latter, she's probably less likely to go poking around in the cold!
