That is awful news. Going to DC was my official start to my riding season.

You and a lot of others. You can still do it though. Just not as part of an organized group is all. The Memorials will still be there.

Live 40 miles south of DC and have been riding out of Quantico HD for years, We would never ride into DC "Pentagon staging area" we always peal off and go west for a good day ride and lunch somewhere, sad to see it go, was always a thrill to ride up HOV with police escorts and see all the people on the overhangs waving the American Flag, always made me feel good for being an American and paying tribute to our fallen heroes.

Haven't been there yet. Guess I had better make it a point to try this last one.
Sorry to hear of it's ending.
I was thinking this year and wondering how much longer will the 911 memorial rides continue?
The local 911 ride attracts 3 to 5 thousand riders and still seems to be popular but with need for volunteers to make it happen I can see rides like this coming to an end also.
I won't forget our Veterans, Active Military or those souls lost on that terrible day in September.
In the years to come we can all honor our military present and past in our own way!

I can’t see how the local chamber of commerce, politicians, The POTUS, area businesses, ect., ect. will let this transpire.
I’ve got my pistons crossed that some “white knight” donner comes through and maybe political pressure help reverse this.

While I certainly appreciate the sacrifice of others, having lived in the DC area at one point for about 15 years, I would never subject myself to hours of duckwalking in DC heat with hundreds of thousands of other bikes.

I've gone every year since 2011. I will miss such a worthy event.
