more pure idiocy,

The AZ legislature has proposed something similar here in AZ, in that to remain helmetless, one would need to pay an undetermined fee (determined by the state of course).
Currently we are helmet free, as long as you are over 18. Why cant these nanny state ******** just leave well enough alone.....

When you register your car in texas(each year) you have to show proof of insurance. Why can't they do the same thing for the helmet law? Show proof of medical insurance when you register the bike.

Oh, I guess that would not work, because who knows if you are going to wear a helmet or not?

We beat this in 1997 when we repealed the Texas Mandatory Helmet Law. It doesn't stand a chance in Texas.

The author of the article got it wrong. You have to be 21. You have to have taken a motorcycle safety course OR are covered by an applicable insurance plan, not both.

Sounds like open season for harassing motorcyclists who don't wear helmets.

Car drivers need insurance, can the police pull you over just to prove you have insurance?

what happens if you get stopped and don't meet the stipulations? Do you just get a citation? Do they prevent you from riding on and tow the bike? Sounds like harassment to me.
What if your passenger is helmetless?
