Default Need some help!

Had a rubbing noise on my wife’s 09 Heritage comming from the rear, thought is was that brake, but turns out that wasn’t it. Wanted to get this addressed before we left on a 1300 mike trip on Friday.

Good News/Bad news...

Good news - Found the source of the noise, it wat the stupid betg gaurd.

The bad news is, whe I was reassembling the brakes, the longer bot that goes through the sleeve broke. - My service manual shows 45 ft pounds, not sur what happened, broke before I got there.

Anyhow, I drilled out the bolt, and tapped larger threads, but that I didn’t hold. SO need to find a caliper mount.. - I’m going to try calling all of the locals (within a 50 mile radius, and hope someone has one in stock. Worst case I can try to find a helicoil of the correct size. But never used one of those before.

I someone has one laying around that you replaced with chrome, and can sell it to me and overnight it, that would be fantastic. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Damn, all this for a stupid bent belt guard, I’m ready for the funny farm!!!

Well, I found this, and it has overnight shipping available... If I can’t find a stock one, I guessing I am paying a premium for chrome.

Part number for stock one 42895-08A. Surdyke has it on their website but don't know if it is in stock.

Checked with my local dealer, and they did a search, with in the order 100 miles no one had one in stock. I ordered the chrome one with overnight shipping.

I did did find a dealer that had the bolt kit in stock, so I Road 2 hours out to get it.

Should have the bracket tomorrow, but tracking number shows no info yet. So I’m all set with parts, and should be good to go.

Man, between shipping and parts, this fix is costing me over $200.

But I guess if that bolt was to weak to get torqued to spec, maybe it could have caused me problems on the road. Better to happen at home for sure.

I have the bike bike torn down, and the stripped bracket off, so it’s just reassemble once the bracket arrives.
