Default Why the FXDR isn’t a performance bike

Out for a ride, stopped in for a burger & beer. Started reading emails while waiting. Got 1 from Ducati as I like the Diavel. Well they have a new one:

the engine produces 157 hp at 9,250 rpm, developing 95 ft lbs of torque. The engine pushes the surprisingly lithe Diavel (carrying a wet weight of 538 pounds) with aplomb”

For less the price of Harley’s “performance” model, I’ll take one of these.

Sorry but Harley is out of their minds with the pricing and advertising of the FXDR. I hope they do better with future models.

Maybe not......But it's fun to watch'em crash on YouTube.
It's also fun to watch'em hit the throttle when the blue lights come on and leave the cops sitting there munchin' on their donuts.

Funny stuff.

FXDR = Showroom brick. That, from a close friend who sells new Harleys.

They are truly ugly motorcycles, I saw one a few weeks ago when I was buying some parts and I asked what it was....The guy told me that it was the hot, new FXDR and I said, "No wonder Harley's in trouble."
I like Harley's, I only ride Harley's and have no interest in other brands....But these new bikes and the M8 just don't inspire me to write a check.

While I don't know anything about the FXDL but that Ducati has to be one of the ugliest things I've seen on 2 wheels...JMO

Diavel is ugly, but it does look a little better in person. I wouldn't want all the tech that comes on it. The FXDR has plenty of performance on the road, i really like the M8 114, it's a lot of fun to ride if you can deal with the riding position. I came very close to buying one before i found my Low Rider S.

There have been more than a few threads on this subject. The fact is that the FXDR is a "Harlified" muscle cruiser, and in no way does it qualify as a "performance" bike, except MAYBE when it's compared with other Harleys. In it's defense, the FXDR looks 'way better in person than in photos, but I still wouldn't buy one for even the price of an 883.

Oh, and, yes, the Diavel is arguably the FUGLIEST motorcycle in production today-but it's still a rocketship compared to anything the MoCo has ever made.
