Default Sportster Iron 883 exhaust heat

I am in Manila Philippines and its always hot here. Sitting in the traffic creates lots of heat from engine and exhaust and it burns my legs. Anybody with suggestion how to minimize the heat from motor and exhaust?

Buy a water cooled bike.

Just kidding. My girlfriend's Street Glide is an absolute broiler at slow speeds and/or in traffic, so we are going to try Love Jugs.

I get it, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you don't have many options. The Sportster's lump is air-cooled. If air isn't moving around it, it's not cooling. You can't combine high ambient temperatures with low air velocity and expect anything from that engine but heat...and roasted legs.

Unfortunately, this isn't something you can fix with a jet change (or a tune).

I appreciate your suggestion. It just by the time I will get this fan to Philippines it will cost me 700usd, customs fees and taxes. Or get invoice under 200usd and then no fees and taxes. I will check around if there is something similar for half the money.

Cooling the engine will not have much of an effect on the temperature of the exhaust.

The other day I repainted the interconnect pipe with VHT paint. It called for the pipe to be warmed to 200°C to cure. With the engine ticking over for just a couple of minutes saw that temperature.

Do you have heat shields on the exhausts?

Were the pipes on the bike when you painted them, brush or spray?

Philippines...great fun except traffic haha.

Motor heat you don't have many options:
Synthetic Oil, Oil Cooler, Jug Fans.
Make sure you don't have any accessories blocking air flow to the motor, such as a tool bag.
Yet again, air cooled engine in traffic will get hot.

Burning leg on exhaust.
You are not riding in short pants (or a dress haha) and sandals, correct?
Heat shield would be the first defenses against a more severe burn, yet will still burn skin even if you have a shield installed.
Exhaust wrapping may help, yet I think you'll still get a burn.
Just maybe instead of boots, full length Nomex soaks.
Even with the Philippine weather, I think your best option is full coverage boots.

All FWIW and good luck.
