Default 05 Ultra classic 88 CI, slug or not ??

Previously owned a 92 Ultra Classic with an Ultima 113 CI motor. I just bought an 05 with a stock 88 CI with rienhart dual pipes and a screaming eagle tuner and was special built from factory with 6 speed screaming eagle tranny. (05 models were stock 5 speed) I am perplexed a bit, as too the power I should be getting from this motor. It seems to accelerate ok, but it seems a little bit of a slug. I run it around 3 k rpm. When I throttle hard it seems a little boggy, does not seem to get up and pull like it should, as I said a bit of a slug, it goes faster obviously but not very quickly. Is this normal?????.

Nothing "came with" the SE 6 Sp. It may have been dealer installed when it was new

A buddy of mine had an 05 Ultra.
It was BONE STOCK -Exh and all. Poor thing couldn't blow it's way thru a wet Kleenex.

Mild cams, Exh, K&N A/F . . . It should run pretty good.
Another buddy had a Road King (also an 05 I think) It had the 95" Conv, 203 cams
and Samson mufflers. It ran like a raped ape.

I had an 03 Road King with an 88 and it would run circles around my 09 with a 96. I bought the 03 from a dealership and was told the previous owner had "some motor work done" to it. I asked what kind of work but they couldn't tell me for sure.

Previous bike was an 05 Ultra. Dual full sac pipes, SE mufflers, SE air cleaner and tune.
I never expect a 900lb bike with 60ish HP to be a rocket.

After 3k miles with my 19 114CI ultra, I realize what I was missing.
Roll on power to pass on the highway, 5th or 6th gear and effortlessly.
With a passenger.

I always ran my twinkie 2800 to 3500 rpm. Don't get me wrong, loved that bike, but it was a slug.

There weren't any bikes built like that as specials for the public. If it's an 05, the SE six speed has the same ratios as the factory 5 speed and an overdrive 6th. The 06 Dyna six speed bikes were dogs because they had an 88" with a differently geared 6 speed.

If it's a stock engine, it's not going to be a rocket ship - especially if you are used to a big inch motor.

Andrews 21 cams and tune are the ticket for a stock 88. It helped mine get out of its own shadow, just saying....
