Ive got a 07 sportster 1200XL, bike is always kept inside. Took bike out one day planed on taking to work next morning instead wife asked me to being her to work...we all know the end result of that. Long story short i left bike in driveway for the day planning to take it out after work. Light shower during the day left me pissed that i left it out. Brake lights not working now. Running light working only 1 part of the dual filament is lit. Light doesnt work for front or rear brake application, looked around used a test light, fuse is good, unplugged brake light socket and tested pins. Blue wire has power at all times yellow/red wire appears to be the powered wire for brake application, has no power with hand or foot brake applied. Any ideas or where to check next?

 

some models had issues with the electrics panel. might want to loosen it up and blow dry it. also some had issues with corrosion.

 

I figured it out. Removed brake lever, found that the brake switch is bad. Sticks in and i can just wiggle it without even pushing it in and the light will flicker. Ordered a nee one will be in tomorrow. Rear still not working but i think that one was iffy before hand so ill check that one too
