Default My first HD

Hello ! I am currently a BMW GS rider and thinking about switching to HD. I need as much advice as possible. I can afford a 2003-2005 Road King, a Dyna or a newer Sportster.

I am 190 cm and travel a lot with my wife as a pilliion that is also rather tall (178).

What do you recommend for me to start with ?

What is your height in feet and inches? While the rest of the world was learning the metric system, the US was busy going to the moon.

BTW, my first bike was a '74 r90s. Number two was an r1200c. My current is a '17 CVO Street Glide. I loved both of my beemers at the time. I love my bike.

You're almost 6'3". I think you will feel a bit cramped on a sporty. That Dyna with some extended foot controls or the Road King will be better for your size. Go to a dealership and sit on one. They'll try and talk all fancy to you and make you buy (which I did), but you don't have to say yes.

Good luck and thanks for stopping by.

Definitely go for a bigger bike. I can't imagine wanting to do a lot of miles two up on a Sportster.

My choice would be the Road King. If you're planning to ride with your wife quite a bit, it would be the best bike for that, and also the most comfortable for both of you. I may be partial because I have one though. I do love wide glides, but think they are better suited for solo riding.

Get the Road King she will like it better, and remember "happy wife happy life."

I love my Sportster, and I think they are the most reliable bike Harley makes, but if you are planning on riding 2 up. With the bikes you listed the Road King is the best choice. Maybe a heritage softail.

Yup, Road King. Put on a TallBoy saddle and some different bars (I'm running 518s) and you'll be fine. I'm 6'5 this combo works for me. Oh yeah, extended brake pedal. Done a lot of traveling, and this rig is really pretty good all around.

Why do you want to switch? What do you hope to gain from the Harley you are not getting from the GS?

And there have been a rash of new troll posts lately so excuse me if I am off base but a few red flags are setting off the potential troll alarm--especially the use of a personal name as a handle. But I will proceed assuming this is legit and say that from the 'buy' list you have supplied and your criteria, definitely the Road King. But I would go for a newer model touring if possible, and since a BMW GS is not in cheap, I assume it's possible, especially with a trade, unless we are talking an older model GS.
