Dont know what hit it but when I went out to the garage there is a gouge right down to the metal on my tank right across the r in Harley. I love the logo just as it is. I know HD painted it on and tanks only come primed. I will not put a decal on it or under the clear coat. vinyl off gases and bubbles the paint. Has anyone come up with a stencil so the logo can be painted on befor its cleared?

 

Sorry I can't help you with the stencil. I just wanted to say that the patent emblem on my side cover is a decal that was clear coated over more than 10 years ago and no bubbling. Good luck with your project.

 

Maybe a local Custom Paint shop can help touch it up or repaint to the original lettering??

 

I took the tank to a friend of mine who does vinyl signs. He has a friend that does professional touch ups. He thinks it can be saved. Ill find out later today.

 

The emblems on my 2014 Limited in Daytona Blue Pearl are vinyl under the clear coat. The paint and vinyl still looks brand new. Maybe look in the parts catalog for the decals for your bike.
