Default Converting EFI tank to a carb model?

I have been offered a tin set that is from a 2006 EFI Duece and I want to fit it to my 2003 carb model, anybody done it or know what parts I will need to swap or change.

I would say u need a fuel petcock and bung, remove fuel pump and prob it. Theres not much to a carbed tank.

You wil also need the top plate that the fuel pump and gauge sending unit are attached too or its gonna leak real bad.
You'll also need to install a new gauge sending unit, assuming you want the gas gauge to work.
Personally, I would save a buck or two and not bother with it. I have yet to see one that was even half way accurate so I gave up using them a long time ago. I found the trip meter is far more reliable.

Yep, that is exactly what I have done on my bike. I do not have the part numbers handy, but as mentioned, you will need a top plate and a petcock adaptor.

Pretty easy and straight forward replacement. Go for it!

Default New post to old thread!

Can someone point me to the appropriate petcock adaptor? Anyone know if the original top plate from the 2000 Deuce will work with a 2006 or 2007 FI gas tank?? I dont care about the gas gauge, it only read 3/4 full with tank totally topped off.

"Pingel" sells the best quality petcocks on the market. They also have adapters to convert EFI tanks for use on carb'ed bikes.

I have the same deal. I did get new tin that was an EFI style but is marked Carb on the top plate. It has a petcock. However there is a plug on the top plate as well which I dont know what it goes to. Assuming it is to a sending unit. The gauge tube is not like my 01 so i also assume its for a digital style. What gage would work.

My bike is an 01 Heritage Softail and had not plate on the tank. I am assuming this newer tank should work but figuring out the fuel gage is an issue.

Top plate newer tank
