Frankenstein's Neck
 

I have the Nostalgic king sized windshield on my '07 Fatboy and as far as windshield's go it's arguably the best looking one available. However, as many here would probably agree the bike looks a hell of a lot better without it so I only use it when I know I'll be on the highway or extremely long runs because it is great for those trips.

The issue I have is when I take it off there are huge lugs sticking out of the forks. I don't mind the bottom ones so much but the upper set look like the bolts sticking out of Frankenstein's neck to me. They honestly annoy me to the point that I take an extra minute to pull them off and put the stock screws back in.

My question is does anyone have a more creative solution to hiding these bolts or should I just continue to swap them out?

I have the same windshield. To be honest the mounts have never bothered me. Never have they taken away from me enjoying a ride.

True enough! Can't explain why they bother me... They just do, so thought there might be some mad creative genius out there that might have the same hang-up.

Yeah... It's quick and easy enough but I know me and it's only a matter of time before I loose one of those mounting bolts. LOL

Yeah, i have the same windshield as well, and just like Misbehaven they haven't bothered me. But my headlight shroud is black, so the rubber grommets blend in, and there's just 4 small chrome pegs sticking out. I can see how they would stand out more on a chrome shroud.. but i think all you can really do is just swap them out every time. soo..yeah.

what about a piece of chrome braided oil line cut to length and slipped over the offending lugs?

Starting to think you guys are right... I need to let it go and just enjoy the ride and the bike for what it is. Letting two little studs that are responsible for an extremely comfortable ride on the highway play with my head is kind of stupid. lol



I don't think that would do much for the windshield studs but it is an absolutely genius idea for another move that I made. I moved my turn signals from the controls down to the bottom of the shroud and they look phenomenal except for the black wires coming from the lights. As funny as it sounds those wires really weren't bothering me but I'm going to try your idea to cover them just to see how it looks! THANKS!!!
