Default What brand of tire?

Started with stock dunlop, tried Avon Venom, too sticky. I've been on Metzeler 880 for the past few years.

I didn't like how avon venom handled. sticky wore out too fast and the steering changed in the corners.
Just personal preference.

I've been experimenting with Michelin Commander 2's and I can honestly say that my record has been beaten with these tires. The best that I've gotten out of past sets of tires was 14-15k on the rear tire and I've now passed 20k and I still have about a thumb nails width of tread left above the wear bars. I can't guarantee that others will get the same results but on my Springer and the way that I ride, I've been very happy with the MC2's and they also do great in the rain. (I found that out last weekend coming home from the Hell's Canyon Rally, lol )

I have a friend who has a Honda and he has those same tires as you do Gary and he's gotten 20k on his too. I looked at them and they look good to me, wear wise. On my last bike, I was getting 15k max out of them and they were Dunlop. It makes me wonder what Michelin is doing that Dunlop isn't.

According to what my Indy told me, he said that the center part of the tire was built out of harder rubber for long wear and the sides of the tire were softer and set up more for gripping on corners. I haven't taken the time to go on the Michelin's website to double check what he said but I trust them because they look out for me and they know that I like experimenting with different tires trying to get the most bang for my buck. Hope that helps.
