super charging vs turbo charging on a softail vs touring
ok i built a slammed softail which because it's soo low rides a lil rough fine for me but not great for 2 up riding with the wifey...so i'm using it as my hotrod
it has a s&s 111" evo motor...
now the 2nd i will build a touring style bike...
here's where the super charger vs turbo comes in
i wanna do it but because of cost i can't do it on both sooooooo
so i supercharge or turbo charge the hotrod bike or do i put it on the touring bike?
also anyone that has pros and cons of super chargers or turbos?

I have no personal experience with either on a bike but do on a car. On a daily driver SC is generally known for less lag time, since there is no spool up time and hence you can pick up boost from low rpm's, where as a Turbo needs more time to spool up, but once the rpm's are up there, they are quick and can generally get higher boost levels but fuel management is more involved, especially when you start with a naturally aspirated engine.

Turbo really need to be sized correctly or else they will lag real bad. Big Turbos have potential for big boost and power but if your motor does not produce enough exhaust pressure to turn it quickly you will get a lot of low end lag. Turbos make a big torque/hp spike and typically make more power per pound compared to supercharger cause they have less parestetic loss. Centrifugal supercharger have a more liniar power curve and a little easier to control the power. Both have there issues with install on bikes so there is not a huge advantage going with one or the other.

Either way. Is going to be killer. I doubt you'd notice much of a difference between the two. It's not like you're going to be putting an 88mm turbo on your bike. There are tons of aftermarket bolt on units out there. I'm sure people are fabing their own too. I've seen some for the touring bikes that mount the turbo at the mufflers so there isn't all that "stuff" up front by you legs. RB Racing has got a neat turbo set up though pricy you can still check out how they did it.
