Default Hydraulic tensioner wear check

55K since the upgrade - '07-up version.

Checked the hyd tensioners for wear - maybe 1/64". The pic makes it look like more. I'll worry about it after another 100K.

Mobil 1 change every 5K.

Glad you posted that info, I have been curious as to how the hydro tensioners are holding up.

Did you check the inner as well? Do you have morse or roller chain on the inner?

It's the HD '07-up version. Roller chains, complete replacement of all cam parts and oil pump.

You may have to pull the cam plate to see the secondary tensioner. Might be able to use a dental mirror to see it.

I did a cam job on my '09 Fatboy with 100K on her. I bought replacement tensioners thinking they'd probably need replacing, but they were barely worn at all. Since I got them anyway, I went ahead and replaced them, but just food for thought.... hydraulics last a loooooonnnng time.
