Finally finished with my final drive gearing upgrade. 30/68.
Installed the 68T Sportster pulley about a year ago and it was good. Then had the 30T Andrews front pulley installed a couple weeks ago, while having primary leak fixed. The IP bearing turned out to be bad and it was leaking from that seal, so glad I got that done when I did.
At any rate, it feels REALLY good now. With gearing change and hot cam installed, it now runs like a 96 should. Performs better than either of stock the M8 107s I've ridden...and a WAY far cry from the stock Japan gearing of 32/64!

After burning my Stator and learning that the inner primary would need to be pulled to replace it and that there have been a lot of compensating sprocket and alternator problems happening, I stumbled into info on this mod. EXCELLENT. Spent my money on the Andrews 30T and the correct special tools needed to get the nut off. It was a MF. 120lbs air impact wrench did not budge it! Finally 3ft breaker bar with 4ft extension pipe and my buddy STANDING on it, jumping like he was on a diving board and it loosened. Test rode it yesterday. Now this is what I really needed. I don't have to ride the clutch in normal traffic around town and I can run with the fast traffic in 6th gear on the highway and not have to constantly keep down shifting for every hill. This mod will probably reduce my shifting by 30% and I won't have to deal with left hand cramping in traffic every time. The original belt fits fine with plenty enough room for adjustment. The increased torque is very nice too so now if I'm slowed down in traffic to 2K rpm the bike can easily pull out of it without down shifting. I consider adding the 68T wheel sprocket after more riding. Need a new rear tire this winter so this would be an easy upgrade then, maybe, just the 30T front is a game changer itself for now. Good luck with the nut, get help to hold the bike. Thanks everyone, Billy.

Only trouble now is, transmissions for Japan market are also geared lower and still wouldn't measure up to a US bike with the same setup, unless you replace (with US tranny) or re-gear the tranny. We can only compare our bikes to others in Japan, tho, since our bikes will likely never see American soil, tho, right?
BTW, those LAC apes look SICK on your bike!
