Default What do I need: Gangster Style

So the option to buy either a Fxdl or Heritage Softail, both 2014 and with Abs came in

I am really drawn to the gangster style Softail (apes, big fat spokez), and would only buy the softail to customize only.

Having been a rider of sportsters all my life, I was wondering if I could get some information on what exactly I would need to achieve the Gangster look on Heritages.

Also,

Here are some questions

1) Can I just change the front rim and leave the back stock? (is this going to look and handle properly)
2) How tall can I go on bars with stock cables?
3) What is the estimated cost of parts?

Thanks for advice.

Lot's of questions. I think you aren't going to be able to use the stock cables with ape hangers. So, I'd assume going in that you will probably be spending money there.

Ohhhh let me see. Going Gangster is a LIFE LONG RIDE. lol I prefer to call it "Going OLD SCHOOL" instead. I got hooked several years ago and have done several "Old School" bikes. It's by far the best look, in my opinion. I've done 4 deluxes and a Roadie.

Carlini Gangster, Fllyin Apes, Wild 1's, are some good choices
Fat Spokes - Ride Wrights, DNA, Sinister, HD Wheels or keep factories for awhile.
Yes, you can keep 16 on rear and run a larger rim on front (18 or 21), but keep in mind
running a 18/16 combo rides great. 21/16 combo also rides good, but the front will spongy at times. 21/18 is my preferred combo. You get the Looks and handles like stock. I've had all 3 combos and will keep the 21/18. The last pic has the 21/16 Combo.

WHITE WALLS!!!! PERIOD.

Fishtails, though not necessary but I like the look and sound. Samsons are IMHO the best.

SHOTGUN SHOCK!!!!

Parts on a "Old School" bike can run you anywhere from a couple hundred to Over 10-15K. Just depends how far your willing to go.

Heres a couple that I have done.

that is beautiful!

I'm guessing the shotgun is just for the rear suspen? 2" lower?

The huge thing for me is the big front rims on these models. I'm definitely going to have to change out the rims to achieve the look! But will keep the rear stock

Did u lower the front end?

I really like the first bike man (what's the front dimension, 21 x 3 or 21 x 2.5?)

Shotgun is Air ride for the rear. I usually lower mine 2 inches up front. Front wheel is 21X3.5. Then run a 120/70/21 Tire. Some folks use Vee Rubber or Avon, I prefer a wider White wall, so I get my tires made by a guy. Yes they cost a little more, but perfection cost money.

Make a list of the mods you want to do.
Prioritise the list.
Then work your way through them as time and money allows.
You will always find something new to add or change.

Post some progress pics as you go.

That is exactly what I'm hoping to find.

A list of mods to make a stock heritage become a gangsta style bike.

Basic things, like big rims, apes, lowering kit? (front or rear?)

Again, softail model is very new to me

I've seen a few stock heritages, stripped and with apes, and it doesn't look anything like the style u guys are posting.

If you insist on keeping the stock rear wheel then a fat spoke front won't look right. I suggest you go with a 40 or 60 spoke. Plenty of old school, gangster and vicla style bikes have them.

I went with the Vicla style look on my 15 Deluxe and it cost me thousands of dollars. I don't think you can achieve this style for cheap unfortunately.
Here's mine

Hey Country who do you get to make your 18" rear tire and does he ship? Lack of tire options is what kept me from getting an 18 rear wheel. Thanks
