Default 2016 Fatboy S with 14" Apes

Fellow Riders,

Just purchased a 2016 Fatboy S and added 14" apes. The bike is at the HD shop having the apes and a few other items installed. How are the apes going to affect my mirrors and am I going to have to "flip" them upside down to be able to see rear-ward? Also, how do I flip them and what special attachments, if any, are needed if I do have to flip the mirrors?

Thanks in advance!

Nothing needed to flip them, just remember to swap sides. Congrats on the new ride, post pics when you can.

If your bars are installed in alignment with the forks, you should have no problem seeing behind you with the mirrors on top. The farther the bars are racked forward the harder it becomes to adjust the mirrors when they are on top...at least this has been my experience. The opposite is true with the mirrors on bottom. In fact I cannot even see behind me with mirrors on bottom unless the bars are racked forward. Congrats on the new ride.

I was planning on flipping mine to the bottom when I put my 16" apes on just because they stick up so high mounted on top.

Once I took it for a ride though I was amazed at how great my visibility was with the mirrors up high so that is where they stayed.

Congrats on the new bike, great choice. Try the mirrors both ways and see what you like. My stocks weren't quite wide enough to see with when underneath, my new pair, no problem. Had to look a long time to find what I liked with the dimensions I needed though. They really aren't that much wider but huge difference for visibility.

14's on my Lo. Mirrors on top. I tried them flipped but could not see around my wide torso.

I have 16" on my '15 FB LO I tried putting the mirrors underneath and couldnt get them to see anything but the ground. Granted I am tall so that may have been reason. I also swapped to the hd tribal mirrors same issue. So I have them on top.
