Engine light and battery light on at same time
Hello from CO
My battery and engine light have been coming on at the same time...then going off. Checked battery connection (of 1.5 year old battery) = good.
Last two miles of trip the speedometer rested on 0...the led read outs (odometer, gas pump icon, etc.) were flickering wildly. Replaced a blown fuse, jumped her, she started up but only ran for about 5 minutes, then died. I had her towed to my garage. any suggestions?

Check your codes. I had both lights come on and go off for a while and then one day the came on and stayed on. It was the stator. As to the flickering, a stator can make things like that happen as the battery voltage drops and a partially dead stator is trying (unsuccessfully) to charge.
A regulator might generate a similar symptom, but I'm leaning toward the stator on this one..

Any verdict on what this was? I am having the same issue, with the added knowledge that my voltage indicator is hovering around 10 instead of 14 while the bike is running. I am assuming stator, but this voltage regulator looks possible, too. I'd rather just go and replace the one that is causing the problem, so what was the outcome of your problem?
