Thinking of buying a new one and trading in my 07 ultra. Local dealer has them for $3000 off. I can get really good financing thru my credit union. (2.99%). Any comments about any of you that has a deluxe would be appreciated. My wife to to ride but can't now because of a bad back so I really don't do much touring anymore. Thanks for all your opinions.
I'm really partial to the Deluxe. I have an '06. I love the classic styling. It's just a beautiful bike.
Not many downsides in my opinion. Does well on the highway, does well in the mountains, as long as you're not in a hurry. If you were in a hurry, then most likely you'd be looking elsewhere.
But I've never had an ultra, so I can't give you a comparison.
Mine is an 06 Deluxe as well with very little on it stock except tins, paint, cases and frame. I been riding 40 plus years with many bikes in between and it is by far my favorite bike to date, minus the sentimental value of my old 70 shovelhead.
I absolutely LOVE my 2012 Deluxe. Very classy looking bike. Sometimes after washing and waxing, I pull up a chair, a nice cold beer, and just admire the classy good looks!
BTW I'm 6 ft 220 pounds and fits me like a glove. Love it!
I have a had a harley in one form or another since 1974 and my deluxe is the best riding, head turning, gal smiling, most fun bike of em all. I got mine at about $3500 off msrp as it was a new leftover which allowed me plenty of $$$ to add stuff to it. Did i say i liked it!!!
I have a 2010, and I've done only minor cosmetic mods. Foremost, to me its the physical fit, for the comfort factor. I've ridden a Road King, Street Glide, and Fat Boy... After each of those rides I couldn't wait to get back on my Deluxe. As much as I like the ride of my Deluxe, I really like the retro look of the Deluxe. I rode into Laconia today and got many comments about the bike. Every Spring I wonder if I should "upgrade", but I haven't found anything I would rather ride...
