Default 2002 Heritage front brake questions

My wife has a hard time on quick stops pulling the front brake hard enough, I must say compared to my 09 ultra one has to pull hard on her softail to stop quick, I was thinking of putting the 08 up caliper on. Have not tryed the newer brakes on softail are they much better? Would I have to change master cylinder also? Lastly will the new caliper and master bolt up to older fork slider and handler bar control? appreciate any help.

There is probably water or aqueous contaminants in her brake fluid. When was the last time the brake fluid was changed in her Heritage? It is recommended to change it every two years.

I've changed it every two to three years. Her right hand is not very strong and with only one disc and luggage it could use a little more brake.

I put a Brembo from Qtmi on my Heritage, good service from them and very much improved braking.

I have an 02 Heritage Springer, the brakes suck compared to later models, I adjust my riding when I ride the Springer and try not to make emergency stops!!

You can purchase a variety of kits, but I already had a new stock sized rotor so they supplied a nicely made conversion bracket and the 4 pad caliper. A way better braking than a popular 6 piston caliper I had on prior. Tara is whom I dealt with, a very nice and smart lady.

It is a bit pricey, but it's your wife and she deserves the best, ain't that why she has you? Hah!
Good luck whatever you decide.
