Default Need new tyres for my 2016 Fatboy S

Hi

Need some help for decideing on new tyres for my S

They are worn out after just 9000 km (5600miles)

Only consideration on the tyres is that have to do well in rain.

Any suggestions are apreciated.

Michelin Commander II. Should get at least double the mileage than current OEM tire. My friend put 15,000 miles on his tire. I just replaced mine on my Fatboy Lo S. Already have a couple thousand miles on them and hardly any wear. And I tend to tweak the throttle.

Good luck on your decision.

Yes the stock Dunlops are not lasting at all, 5k on the rear, 8-10k on the front. If my dealer didn't give Tires For Life when you buy the bike I'd be pretty pissed off. I've already had 3 rear tire replacements and 2 front tires in just over a year. At $100 for labor it is starting to add up.

Yep, this topic has been given much debate over on the "Everything Breakout" thread.

For our Breakouts, the OEM rubber is the absolute worst of the lot. Everything else, including alternative Dunlop tires like the E3 series, Metzelers, Avons, Pirelli's,,, whatever, get vastly better and somewhat similar reviews. Performance tires don't last as long as utility tires but that just goes without saying really. For rides other than the Breakout, Dunlop's American Elite series gets rave reviews too.

Get anything but a "Dealer" tire and you'll be fine, only you shouldn't judge Dunlop by your OEM experience. Non-HD branded Dunlops are great tires.

Other option is to go to the dark side. Most people that go that route seem to be VERY happy.

+1. Better half gets about 2x the mileage than stockers on her 13 lo and 16 s. Been in some heavy duty rain and never had a handling issue.

Have used stock Dunlop's, Metzler 880's, Michelin Commander 11's and American Elites. So far the Dunlops and Metzlers delivered the least millage. The Michelin gave the most millage but front tire cupped. Right now am on American Elites and like them the best for handling and rain but the jury is out on the millage but they are looking pretty good with 4k on them. I went the Darkside route for awhile and finally went back to the aforementioned American Elites. The car tire stopped, started, and traveled great down the strait road and never showed any wear in 10k. When I got into the twisties they wore me out. It wants to stand you up so you're always muscling your way through the corners. Also didn't like the feel on roads that had supers in them. My .02

Soooooo...update on my Michelin Commander II. Only got 7000 miles on them so went to darkside and not looking back. Fed up with changing tires every season. If I only put a couple thousand miles on it every year wouldn't be a big deal but I ride A LOT....
