#1 on your list is get Cycle Visions brackets and signal relocaters. I tried others on one of my bikes because it was cheaper. It wasn't and isn't near as good of holding the bags stable. Next depending on what softail you have is picking out what style of bags you like. I'm stuck on RK leather covered bags because I think it fits the style of my bikes better than the glass bags. I have a 11 Fatboy Lo that's in my signature avatar and an 08 Crossbones. I got a smoking deal on flee bay that had the brackets and bags in mint condition. They went on my Crossbones and because of it's short rear fender the crossover shows which it doesn't on others with the longer fender. It did leave space on the lower inside corners of the bags for the directional signals and used Autoeyes lights on the fender rail ends. I think it's pretty cool looking and have had plenty of positive comments on her. Course who's going to tell all 275lbs of me it looks like shi!!

I'd to see what's out there too

I've seen some cheaper ones out there but I guess there's a reason they're cheaper

And sometimes it's just nice to get new ideas or see if there are new products around...

Bags are off a 2012 Switch Back mounted with home made plates with stock quick release hardware. I also made custom fillers that are rigid mounted to the bag for a clean look when bags are off the bike.

That is true, however this subject is a routine thread so there's much information that's recent.
Searching "hard bags" produces over 500 hits just over the last year.

That set up looks pretty clean

Can I ask what front wing that is?
