Default Tubeless tires on FLSTC with tire option?

I purchased a 2017 Heritage Softail Classic with the with the white wall tire package. The tires say tubeless on them, but the rims are spoked. Are the tires and rims truly tubeless when you purchase this package or are there tubes in the tubeless tires because of the spoked wheels?

If you have spokes, you have a tube.

I think you'll find all the tires are marked tubeless from the factory.
Spokes, you need a tube.
Solid rims, you can get away without a tube.

You got tubes. Don't waste time or money on plugs or fix-a-flat when you have a flat.

Call the man for a tow and hope there is a dealer open close by.

I think the wheels you bought are indeed tubeless

If the rims are the tubeless spoked wheels, they'll say tubeless right on the side. I have the tubeless spoked smoothies on my Deluxe. Best of both worlds

The rims are smooth and both the tires and rims say tubeless, but I was talking to a fellow Harley owner who said you can't trust it and he guaranteed there were tubes in the tires. I figured he was just misinformed, but I wanted to check with others.

That's the case with my 2009 model.

The above quote is incorrect.

(Lawless IS correct).

FACT: In 2012 HD factory delivered Softails with Spokes or "Laced wheels" with tubeless tires on "tubeless smoothie rims".

Here is a link to the HD part: http://www.adventureharley.com/harle...-x-3-44752-11/

Don't feel bad about being ignorant that Harley sold this product. I first heard about it on this Forum, and 2 years later in 2014 I had several salesman at the HD dealer tell me the same incorrect info even though I pointed out that the smoothie rim has "tubeless" stamped on it.

Strange how difficult it is to find anything on the official HD site. I will check my owners and service manual when I get to the shop.

Edit: The second half of the above message is correct, the TIRES will be marked "tubeless" either way.

The tubeless spoked rims have a liner that goes up and onto the bead area of the rim. The tire bead seals against the liner.

The valve stem is bonded to the liner just like it's bonded to a tube.

The liners are available new from HD and cost about $25 each.

I did a whole post on this in the tires and wheels section of the forum when I did the conversion. I bought the wheels from a guy who took 'em off his new '15, and converted 'em to use on my '06
