Default Who's "other" bike is an FLH

My first bike was a '62 iron head Sportster. Have owned a few Dynas, built a few customs on Paughco frames and now the Slim.
Love the Slim and how I have it set up to switch from tail dragger to bobber, not getting rid of it. Lately I find myself taking longer rides and I am considering another bike. If it's another Softail it will most likely be a Heritage...But the other day I took a ride on my buddies shark nose. Man, that was nice. Liked it much better than the Street Glide I took a test ride on last month.
Which of my Softail brethren own a touring bike for traveling the States and how many of you rack up the miles on a Heritage?

I have an '03 Heritage... many happy miles and many long trips..

Then in 2012, I bought an Ultra Limited... it is now the long, multi-day trip bike. The Heritage is the local, day ride bike..

Love'em both, ride'em both, keepin them both......

I've ridden my softy from DFW to Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Louisiana, NM, and on and on. Quite a few 500 mile days on it and it's ok compared to doing it on a crotch rocket like I used to.

I made the mistake of test riding a RGU 2 weeks ago and all I can say is spending money on the softail is over. It's exactly how I like it and I'll keep it and ride it forever but dammit I'm saving the cash for a Road Glide as we speak. Way too nice a ride for long distances.

Long trips on a crotch rocket would be rough. The 62 sporty took me from West TN to San Diego when I was 18 and I thought it was cool... Wouldn't want to attempt that now.

I hear that man, there's no way I could do anything like that today, too old and brittle.

Got our 07 Heritage new and I've done about (12) - 1500 - 2100 mile trips that was 5-6 days long on her.
Never had any problem with the comfort of the ride. Never had any pain from the ride, nor by not having enough storage room.

The 3 buds I rode with on the trips all have touring bikes.. 1 is a Ultra, 1 has an Street Glide and the other has a RK...

Now at 68 yr young, The trouble I had Last summer was My left hip starting giving me fits and I didn't go on a long trip.. I finally started getting Cortisone shot late summer for relieve and am hoping to be able to hit the road more this summer..

just saying the Heritage is a great road trip bike

I did get a rack for the rear and bought a bag for back there for more storage..

My Springers were bothering my back on longer rides so I added a Street Glide with Tour Pak to the mix.

I have a 2014 Ultra Limited, love it for long trips. Did a 5400 trip out West last summer with it, best vacation I've ever been on. My Limited has 21,000 miles on it.

I just picked up my 06 Fat Boy a few weeks ago, and I was able to ride it the first time last Saturday for 30 miles. It has 251 original miles on it, well, 281 now. It's as cool as I remember when I had my 1997 Fat Boy. I just love my new Fatty too.

My main ride is a 2002 Fat Boy. I've had it since new. Along the way I've had a 2008 Ultra Classic, a Switchback, and a 2014 Street Glide to go along with it. Last fall I swapped the SG in on a 2001 Road King with 18k miles on it. I'm happy with the move. The RK is my longer distance or cooler weather ride with a windshield.

I currently have a Road King and a Deluxe. The Road King gets ridden more and is definitely my first choice for long hauls. I like the Deluxe...but it's just not as comfortable for longer trips. It's great for around town and trips of 100miles or less.

I've had a Heritage too. Its more comfortable than the deluxe (longer suspension, bags and a windshield from the factory) and suits many for longer trips, but the touring bikes really excel on longer trips.

I need both.
