Default Metzeler 888 - Brazil

Just received Metzeler 888's for my Blackline from Dennis Kirk. I see that they were made in Brazil and now I'm nervous about mounting them because of posted problems about the quality of tires made there. Anyone using Metzelers made in Brazil ? Or are they all made in Brazil now ?

Nothing wrong with the new ones made in Brazil, I have seen plenty of the old 880's made there come apart, two on my own bike. That being said, that was a long time ago and I have not seen the problem for years. I run a bike shop and am around bikes and their tires all day every day, I feel confident telling you you will not experience the problem of the past.

AFAIK all the Metzeler 888s are made in Brazil. It's funny as the 880s are still made in Germany. I run both on my Breakout. Only thing is that the 888 on the front wears significantly more than the 880 on the back.

dfwhockey17, thanks for the vote of confidence. This is the first time I used any thing but Dunlop since the '70s.

I bought some Metzelers for my FXR back in 2004 and they were made in Brazil.

I am running 888s front and rear for the first time and no trouble so far, but don't have many miles on them yet. A little different in handling from the MCIIs I had been running.

Cobalt, my experience with 888's and Commander II's on my 2011 Heritage.
Both brands ride harsh
Both brands "slick" on wet roads and worse as they wear.
Both tires gave me 1000 more miles on the rear over the OEM Dunlops.
I went back to the OEM tires and got my ride and sticky back. The extra miles were not
a good trade off.

Checkers, I always ran Dunlop because they stuck well even in rain but I ride a lot and thought I'd try the 888s once to try and make a season without tire changes. Maybe it wasn't my best choice. thanks
