I've been looking to upgrade my stock softail standard front forks. I've looked all over eBay and I can only find 84-99 and 07 and up and the around $200 for the tube when I do come across a set for 00-05 there over $350? And threw Harley there $385.
My local shop insist that I go with chrome fork lowers direct from Harley for proper fit and look, what other options do I have? Any other years? Or complete setups? I figure it's going to cost around $800 installed with all Harley parts.. Thanks

 

Harley brand is best in my opinion for parts like fork lowers. Check out some of the 20% off dealers and see what they can do for you, although a lot of the 20% usually covers shipping. Lakeshore, Surdyke, etc etc

my dealer quoted me around 550 with the $450 kit.....800 seems high

 

If your down for the winter take them down yourself and send them to a plater like Brown's. Not a hard job at all with no specialty tools.A shop manual, seals,bushing and plating you can be done for under 400.00.There's plenty of posts in the do it yourself section on here to help you..

 

+1 with back again..........I've been taking things off my bike this winter and taking them to a local plating house. They have done a get job, parts look great.......I can hand carry in and out so I'm not paying shipping (getting $$$) and it's too cool to ride so.......it works out!
