At the moment I have no service manual and would like to know how are you supposed to check the level of your engine oil. Is it on it's stand or straight up? Any help with this would be appreciated thanks.

 

My 2005 FXSTS says right on the dipstick you check it while it's on the kickstand. Don't know if it holds true for all years though. Does your dipstick have a swivel ball joint where it meets the oil cap?

You don't need a SERVICE manual to tell you how to check your oil. That would be in the OWNER'S manual.

Thanks guys, Yes it is in the owners manual and it does say to check mine when the bike is in an upright and level position. Thanks Bone doc for the heads up. I did not think to check there.
