The feeling you get when your oversized bolt works!
I can not describe the feeling you get when your oversized bolt works! I went from "oh no, can I ever stop this leak without tearing my whole bike apart" to ecstatic jubilation! Not sure if it was my lowering kit that made the shocks off center or if they were just built that way but I see that a lot of people have stripped the gearbox plug. When I recently removed the bolt to do a oil change I noticed the old bolt had lots of Liquid Metal all over it and the threads. Sure enough when I went to put it back in there was no way I would be able to torque it. I wish I had part numbers but I will try to help the best way I can. First I went to O'Reilly's and purchased what I thought would be the next larger bolt. It was a 14X1.50 with a long shaft, nice magnet and best of all, a smaller nut pattern which allows you to get a much smaller socket between the shocks. (I didn't trust the self taping because they just wouldn't have enough threads) Then I got myself a long shank 14X1.5 tap on ebay for 6 or 7 bucks. I put the bike about as high as I could get it on my jack (always tie down) and was able to tap the drain plug quite easily. After a couple of passes I tried the plug and it was like butter. Almost too easy? Next I ran a couple qts of good used oil and then about a 1/2 qt of new clean oil through her to remove any shards of metal. Next I doused the plug with blue lock-tight telling myself from now on I'd drain the box with a Turkey Baster. (don't know if I will or not? lol) filled er up with 70-90 gear oil and let her sit all night. And the next morning did a little "happy dance!" No leaks! Hope this will be some help to those of you with that annoying drip-drip problem.
BTW, That is not a washer in the 2nd pic, it is a bolt with a (flange?) and all I use to seal was blue locktight and a fiber washer. Not sure if any other thing would work but this did for me...

http://www.timesert.com/ This is the way to solve your issue. No turkey baster needed. Click on the timesert & you'll see a video of installation. Good luck.
