Do it!! You won't regret it. I'm 6'4" 320lbs and am perfectly comfortable on my fatboy, even riding 2 up. 16" apes and Harley Goodies (or whatever they are called now) for the floorboards made all the difference!!

I love my softtail slim and I rented a fat boy in California last year. The softtail is a great platform for cruising around and in my opinion the best looking of the harley family. My only complaint is that I am constantly dragging my floorboards in turns. Coming from the more agile sportster there might be a bit of a learning curve when it comes to twisty roads. If you enjoy more spirited riding you might be happier with the dyna family.

I am 6'1" 210 ibs and feel that the softtail has plenty of room.

get your license and take one for a ride. Best way to decide if it is the one for you.

I'm 6-3 and heavy, and an Ultra Classic I owned for a short time was very uncomfortable. I had traded in a Heritage Softail on it, which I ended up liking the Heritage better for fit. I now have a Fatboy that I also like better than the UC, in terms of how it fits me.

These are the two I am considering. The Deluxe is on point for what I'd like to have. The Fatboy would be a good starting point for me tho...

that deluxe is freaking nice!

Thanks for all the input! It sounds like a Softail would be a good fit for me. I am just torn between the Deluxe and the Fatboy.

The Fatboy is at a dealer and I can get Harley financing plus the Harley service plan included. But it is more money.. It's a 2012 with 19,000 miles on it.

The Deluxe is from an individual and has more miles and it's older. But it is a damn nice bike from what I've been told. Haven't been able to look at it yet (4 hrs away). It's a 2009 with 33,000 miles on it.

What do you guys think? The Deluxe actually books higher than the Fatboy. Will the Deluxe hold it's value better? Also the Deluxe has the 96 CI and the Fatboy is a 103 CU.....

I have loved the Fat Boy since seeing my first one in the early 90's and have owned one for quite a while. I also love the touring class bikes and have had several. I am 6'2"/275 and am comfortable on my FB as well as my Heritage. IMO, the FLST's are all capable of a nice ride and more than adequate for two-up.

I would add that, when taking longer rides, some of the features of the touring bikes can be increasingly appreciated, on a sliding scale depending on the length and duration of the ride. Additional storage, audio, fairings/wind screens, cruise control and more seat/backrest combinations can all be a plus.

For me, either bike will fit the bill, with the touring frame being a little more suited for longer rides/trips.

I hope you find the bike you are looking for and enjoy!

If both have been maintain properly, I would go with the newest year and lowest miles. In this case the fatboy. The 103 is icing on the cake.

Many people swear by the warranty available from Harley. If thats you, its another plus.

As for as holding value, who knows. Cant imagine it would be a lot of difference in used values of same year, same mileage fatboy/heritage/deluxe.

Another plus.....that cool fat *** tire
