Default 2017 Softail Slim saddle question

Hey all!

New to this form and street riding as well. Been dirt biking since I was able to walk.

Anyhow, the dreaded seat question. I have the stock Softail Slim seat which I like the profile, butt (pun intended) my 52 year old tail bone cant handle more that a couple hours on a fresh start or an hour after a 10 hour work day. I also have the sundowner for rides with the Mrs. I like the comfortability of the sundowner, but it shoves me too far forward. I'm probably going to trim out some of the foam in the sundowner, but I would like a solo seat with a little more padding and Maybe a couple inches added to the rear of it as well.

Any pictures, links suggestions would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

77

Probably want to look at a Mustang, either the touring or the tripper solo. Danny Grey and Lepera are probably too small for you if the stock seat isnt comfortable for you. There is a change between 15 and 16 (bigger ECM), so make sure you verify fitment with your ’17.

I still have the stock Slim seat and when the planned ride is 2 hours or more I have a custom made black sheepskin cover that slides over the entire seat held by elastic all the way around. It definitely helps on longer trips without pushing you forward.

Plus it would soak up all that tailpipe condensation on hot days, lol

It does indeed. I think that's why they work so good.

Thanks for the input guys.

So my curiosity got the better of me. I decided to try to cut some foam out. It came out better than I thought it would. Looks horrendous here...

But, here it is fairly smoothed out. With the help of my trust drywall sander, I was able to smooth all the rough spots. It only took me about 45 minutes.

Thanks! I have to say it worked out great. I'm back in the bike, not on it. Plenty of room for the wife and still very comfortable. Thanks for the brand suggestions guys.
