2018 peeps! How's the heat?
#11
Over 1200 miles in 3 weeks on my new 114 Fatboy, the exhaust is significantly cooler than my '15 103 ULL. Only caveat I'll add is I did a lot of summer heat riding on the 103 and didn't get the softail until October. I've found the primary cover to be a bit warmer and the air cleaner cover also gets warm but nothing I can't stand. I assume it's just sun heating the metal on the air cleaner cover.

Thanks Thingfish! The dealer was really trying to get me to land on the 107 (because he couldn’t get a 114 in black I’m sure) saying the 114 was much hotter and I think he got into my head a little bit. We ended up getting it in black but I started doubting myself a bit after the first ride. Appreciate the reassurance!

South Florida here so you know it's hot all the time, I have over 2000 miles on my 114 Heritage now and I am so happy about the lack of heat. Just watch your left calf on the primary at traffic lights, though it doesn't burn my skin through my jeans I can feel it. But the thighs .... feeling good, I do not think I need a Capt Itch crotch cooler (sorry Larry and Isabelle).
