Rear Brake Issue on a FatBoy S - 2016
Hi All,
Whilst my dealership is trying to get their head around the problem, would like to hear if anyone as had a similar experience of the rear breaks of a softail or FatBoy engaging without actually putting pressure on the rear brake pedal.
I was riding on the highway and all of a sudden the bike started to pull back, i initially thought there was a loss of power, however the bike stabilized but the security light on the speedo came on and stayed on for a good 5 minutes and then switched off. When i got home the disk was stained and dirty from the pads. Surface was not smooth.
When i took the bike to the dealership it then became evident that the rear disk had overheated, the pads were flaky and caliper pistons were not engaging properly. The dealer replaced the disk, pads and seals in the caliper but when they took the bike out for a ride the problem re-occured. Initially they thought that it may be the break pedal that appeared to be sitting too close to the heat shield of the exhaust but there seems to be enough give. They have bleed the breaks and apparently checked all cables? any thoughts out there of what it could be and if any relation to the ABS? The dealer provides little insight but i guess they are as baffled as I am.
Appreciate any thoughts please.
