Harley heat deflectors vs others
Needing to get some heat deflectors/crotch cooler for my bike. I know of Captain Itch's stuff, which I do like and was my first idea, but I saw the ones that Harley makes and I am wondering which is better... They are about the same price, so I am just looking for opinions or other options. I don't really like the ones that Kuryakyn makes tho.
Thanks for any input!

These are the ones I found when searching for a set for my Slim
What I found:
Harley Mid-Frame Air Deflector-Mid-Frame Air Deflector Part Number 29200008A
Kuryakyn Saddle Shield Heat Deflectors
Captain Itch Crotch Coolers
In terms of looks... I like what Harley did... now, having used the plastic Kuryakyn ones on the wife's Deluxe, you still have the oil tank and part of the rear engine that these plastic units do not cover... that is a lot of heat getting to you... And the Harley's look like the lack in covering any of the oil tank area....
So I placed an order today for the Captain Itch's heat deflectors... if you look closely, they cover part of the oil tank...and trust me, you want that... that sucker gets hot.
Here is a link of what this guy did... he used the plain one and added some timing covers with coins... pretty cool look, so some ideas on what you can do with yours to make it unique...

Those are timing covers from www.motordog69.com . Nice touch.
I should have mine in a few days...

So in this case... not selecting these based on look but the feedback of everyone that have gone with the Captain Itch's heat deflectors.... I am glad I found the thread where Misbehaven shared his photos... I went with black to make them disappear with the rest of the black components in the bike... and the look is growing on me...
And the main reason is because these fall over the oil tank and that is one of the main sources for the heat I get.... just avoiding touching the tank will be a win for me...
I also have the fans on the left side...and these deflectors will help to avoid some of the heat I get on the right leg from the hot air flow...

Thanks for all the input! I think I'll end up going with my first choice, Captain Itch! Sounds like I won't be disappointed. I really like the idea of the timing cover with the coins on there. Really gives it a different look. I wasn't sure which style I would go with, but I think the plain will do and then I can add to it if I want.

Man! Not sure why I waited so long to get one... makes a world of difference while sitting at a light... and when riding as well... I don't need to order any extensions for the floorboards... I am good!!
I did send Larry a note asking if he can make me one in brown leather, close to the color on the rest of the leather now on the bike... and with a cut out for the fan... I want to see what a brown one on this bike will look like...
It does not block the fan, but if I can get it with a cutout it would be much better for me.

I bought the harley version first before i even knew about the captain itch. Had the hd heat sheilds on the bike for about 2 weeks before i got my captain itches. The hd works ok enough, but the captain itch looks good and works a bit better. I have a set of the hd almost new in the box for my 16 fbs if anyone wants them for a good deal?
