2018 Breakout gas tank swap-a-roo?
New breakout gas tank looks super dumb and its near useless with a mighty 3.5g capacity.
I doubt it would be as easy as bolting on the old tank but does anyone know if that would work? Or are the mounts different now. Still not sold on the idea of the 2018s.

As PROT stated. Yes, the other 3 share the same frame. However, they all have mounts incorporated into the top of the tank to accommodate the speedo. You can either shave the top of the tank before painting, or relocate your speedo to the tank (of course also means a new speedo). The tank mount is definitely different. Another option is hold out for thunderbike. They are currently working on a bunch of parts for the new breakout.

I've come to the conclusion that a lot of their premium priced items are made for the looks rather than for function. And you will need to do additional work to your bike cause most of their parts are not a direct bolt on.

When I owned a Sportster 48, I posted on another forum, and it KILLED me how so many 48 owners whined about the 2.1 gallon tank. It's like, dudes, did you not know what 2.1 gallons means!?! Did you think Harley was lying about the tank size!?!
Then you had the guys who swapped out the stock tanks for bigger ones, which totally ruins the entire vibe of a 48. At least with the '18 Breakout, a larger tank would improve the looks...
