Default Wifey's Slim gets a winter make over

It's been a few years since I've posted a play by play mod session. Last one was with the wife's 883 getting the 1250 kit installed. Since her Slims factory warrenty has run out, it's time to go to work. I have collected all the needed parts over the last few months-
23/18 wheel Avon tires
FL style stretched front fender
Stretched rear fender
Legends air ride
Progressive lowered catrigeges for the forks
Freedom Black true duals
Another stock slim tank (be able to keep original stock tins & wheels)
HOK paint will consiste of a metallic silver base, Roth silver flakes.008-.015,
Arctic white main with Colbalt Blue Kandy inlays on sides of tank & each fender
Few other odds/ends grips, boards etc.
will be starting in the next week with tear down & mock up & will add to thread as I go. I've seen a lot of different post with other members with questions about the different things I'm about to do so figured it's time to get this together & toss up pics with each step I'm going on.
Day1- on the lift with a quick pic. Stay tuned for more!

what wheels are you going with? I'm starting on my '15 slim...doing tw555 cams an changing to black covers...I'm considering a wheel change or maybe a 21" front to match the rear. I'm also toying with the idea of using switchback wheels.

are you laying the paint? sounds nice.

Wheels in the pic I took in my shop are what's going on. I'll get a better pic of wheels tomorrow morning for you. DNA mammoth diamond cut spoke with black powder coated rim bands. Have had the 23" DNA on my street glide now for over 6k miles & no issues so went with those. No engine mods on hers or that would of been first! The 103 is plenty snappy for her to ride for sure. And yes I'll be laying all the paint & striping myself.

I love the look of the Softail slim, I'm interested to see the final result.
And I have Avon tires on my Triumph, and had them on my last bike. They'll be on my Fat boy when I'm due for new.

I agree! The avons on my sg are the best purchase I've made for it! Grip and ride are a definite noticeable improvement over the 2 sets of metzlers I had on it before! Also I do love the stripped down version of the slim as well. Wife was the one who brought up this whole project over the summer. Pulled up one evening at the local watering hole & came back out to leave & there were 2 more slims parked next to hers exact same color. She mentioned it was time to set hers apart from the others. Happy wife is a happy life!! Plus I'll keep all the old take offs so it's a easy conversion to go back to stock form if needed

That rear fender.....really? Is there an emoticon for vomit? To each their own when it comes to making it your own; i get that. But seriously, ridiculous is just plain ridiculous.

Glad I didn't pick it out & it's not my bike! I'd share your thoughts on the fender with my wife on but she would want to see you bike & would most likely say it's "Pretty"!
But like I said Happy wife=happy life!

Those new fenders will be great in the rain, I had a 2014 slim in Daytona blue. Loved the bike but my wife took a beating in the rain with that OEM short rear fender when we rode 2 up.
The new fenders will look awesome on your wife's slim.
