If you want clear air around your helmet and a buffet-free ride, the 19" shield is a better choice. Even so, I find it not quite high enough; I mounted it on the top of the forks to get another couple of inches of height. Combined with the fork-mounted deflectors (fangs), it's a blissfully peaceful ride. And I'm only 5'8". If you're substantially taller, well, I don't know what to tell you. It may be a case of that the 15" shield might work for you because maybe the turbulent air would pass under your helmet. Won't know until you try. At 5'8", I find the 15" shield puts the turbulent air right at ear level, the 19" shield has it hitting at about forehead level, and mounting it higher like I have gets it to pass almost over the top of my helmet, it just hits the very top.

Even with the 19" shield and having it mounted up a couple of inches higher than normal, I still look over the shield, my eyeline is still over the top of it.

Great info, thanks! Ive gotten used to a windshield blocking wind on my torso when going at high speeds, so I’m hanging on pretty good on this new bike. Still fighting the urge to put a windshield on this one. We’ll see.

I also have the 19" shield on order. Don't really like the look, but it should be helpful for long highway mile days. And at least it's quick(ish) detach....

There's a lot to be said for having no windshield at all, that's for sure. If you're not spending a lot of time at highway speeds, then -- yeah, I prefer no shield. And the wind can be a great air conditioner, but with the blissfully peaceful ride that I have now comes the loss of pretty much all air movement around me, so no air-conditioning effect...

The 15" harley shield is a really good little windshield, it takes all the wind blast off your chest and arms. I just found that the turbulent air caused too much buffeting for my taste. Actually I intend to try it out again now that I have the fangs and the higher mount, just to see how it compares to the 19". There's not a world of difference between the 15" and the 19", they're the exact same shape, it's just that the 19" is a little taller and so that moves where the turbulent air hits.

It's not quick(ish), it's pretty much instantaneous. Takes about 30 seconds - loosen the four torx bolts, pop the shield off, tighten up the torx bolts. It's hard to imagine how it could be easier.

Why would you need tools to remove and install the windshield??

Yes -- but you don't have to remove the screws. You just loosen them up a little. The windshield is held on by a grooved rubber grommet that compresses and holds the windshield frame by friction; you only have to loosen it up enough to get it to let go, so a turn or two. It's really very quick.

I've been riding with mine and have not had to loosen or tighten my torx bolts... instructions do not say you ever have too loosen or tighten once mounted. based on the design it will stay in place securely until your ready to remove and then you can just pull it off... what I don't like is no locking mechanism for security.
