Default Breakout fender clear protectant film removal

Has anyone successfully removed the clear protectant film from the rear fender of a new Breakout? I'm talking about the clear film that keeps the passenger pillion from damaging the fender paint. I'm considering removing mine, I don't like the way it extends beyond the edge of the pillion and will never ride two-up on this bike so I can leave the pillion off. I've removed lots of stickers and such in the past, but I'm concerned about damaging the matte finish blue denim paint on my 115 Anniversary Edition Breakout. I'd also have to figure out something to cover the seat mount hole...

Try warming it up with your 'ol ladies hair dryer. Not too hot. slowly peel. Lots of patience.

Under the pillion seat is a plastic cover for the hole. Pull it out and push it into the thread on the fender. Don't forget to put the pillion screw back where you take this thingy from so you don't loose it.
