Small project is now a pain in the rear
A few years ago I relocated my ignition to the side of the bike where the horn used to be so I could install a backline dash. That was a huge mistake cause moving it to the side ment water could get in the ignition corroding the contacts leaving me stranded. After lots of thought I decided to go with a keyless system by digital guard dawg. After a long time looking over the bike I realized I have used up every bit of space except the tiny space in front of the rock guard. Getting to that spot meant I had to remove the fender, wheel, and exhaust. That is not to mention I had to remove the tank so I could get to the run/stop switch wires. The only good thing that came from this is finally getting around to installing my new crossbones rear wheel.

Learned a tough lesson today about my odd year 2007 night train and part compatibility. My bike has the smaller 3/4 bearings on the rear and I have a 2008 crossbones wheel I am trying to swap out. The local dealership told me I could swap the bearings and spacer in the newer wheel to make it fit the 3/4 bearing but that was a no go. 3/4 bearings are taller and bottom out in the hub before fully seating. In addition the center hub seemed to be too narrow but that may have been a mistake by the parts guy. I have ordered reducers to remedy this problem and hope to be on the road soon

I am making progress once again. after alot of measuring i have my cross bones wheel aligned and fitting right. i had to use reducers to allow my 3/4 inch axle work with the 25mm bearings and had to get a new pulley side spacer to get it to fit. i like the look alot and am happy i chose this wheel. once my new tire arrives i will move on to finishing up the project.
