I have a 2018 Fat Boy and it take bumps better than the 2013 Road Glide. Without a doubt. Wife said the same thing, Take bumps better than a 2010 Gold wing as well.

I have a 18 Softail Lowrider and compared to my old 2012 Softail FatBoy the lowrider has a better more connected ride. Not stiff at all, just nice and firm.
I am 175 lbs and I have the shock preset at the number 1 position, which is for riders between 160 to 180 lbs. BTW I need to mention that the handling as compared to the 2012 FatBoy is much better. The Lowrider just runs though turns like it is on rails.

I would assume the LowRider has the shorter shocks like the Sport Glide. Sounds promising. I admit from a handling standpoint the 18 I drove did handle great. I hope the word, stiff and soft on bumps can be in one bike. As soon as a 19 comes in I will test ride a Softail with the shorter shocks and make them set it to soft if it don't have a **** on the side.

It handles potholes and bumps better than previous years' Softails, I don't have to stand up in anticipation any more going over railroad tracks and sewer covers.

2018 Softail Models have easy pre-load adjustability with new rear coil over mono shock. Like others have said this is best riding Harley I've ever owned. Both front and rear suspension has longer shock travel and excellent Showa quality.
Cheers

I ride an 18 softail sport glide, I way 157lbs and have the rear on setting 1. It reacts pretty bumpy/stiff to sharp bumps. If i'm on a cement highway, it can feel like I'm bouncing a little as well, hard to explain. It's not like a touring bike give that's for sure, much more akin to a sportster and dyna suspension. I like it it feels more on rails than any of my prior 7 harleys.

Ride quality on my '18 Breakout is excellent, i can easily do a full day in the saddle and be raring to go again next day.

After experiencing the improved suspension and handling on my new Fat Bob, I'll never be willing to accept anything from Harley that is less. On my previous Harleys I always bought aftermarket suspension stuff but stock my Fat Bob is nearly perfect. If I had to complain I would say it needs a bit more rebound dampening and the fork dive during braking is a bit much. That said, my Fat Bob is literally an order of magnitude better than any Harley I have had in the past.

Now you are spot on to what the guys I have talked to have been telling me. The last thing I want is a Dyna or Sportster ride. I don't care so much about feeling like I'm on rails. I need a bike with a softer ride then my King. I just cant buy a Polaris but I have drove them and they feel softer. I hope the 19s shocks are set up different. I should know in about 8 weeks.
