Default day 4 lessons with New Heritage 114

rode about 250 mi today. 2 things:.........different saddlebag latches, I need to habit checking for closed latch since these are different from my RGU. twice bags opened on road after i failed to check for proper latching.

other thing, sitting at light in North Tampa. looking for neutral, which is a bit ornery compared to my RGU, and let clutch out a bit in 2nd gear. engine bogged, lots of lights on dash and pistons started arguing about which cylinder to go into. I shut off engine and pushed bike off pavement. waited a few seconds, she fired right up, but left and right turn signals were flashing for a few seconds. everything sounded ok and she ran fine, but noticed a check engine light. was near dealer, my tech cleared the code(some B.S. code about heat sensor) and he said it happened to him frequently because new engines idle real slow. said not to worry, so i won't .

If you have trouble getting it into neutral, just bump the throttle a bit while pulling up on the shifter, it will slide right into neutral.

Well, keep an eye on it. I’ve never had those codes or CEL so don’t assume it’s nothing if it happens again.

Good suggestion, I will try that. I keep thinking it will get easier to find N with some miles but I still struggle with it!

Although my bike is not new, I had similar problems with neutral. I did a transmission fluid change to Red Line w/Shockproof and now shifting and finding neutral are much better and smoother.
