Hi guys, only just joined the forum and this is my first post! I know this has probably been discussed a thousand times and I apologise in advance if that is the case...
I am looking at installing a lay down licence plate holder on my 2012 Softail Slim. I have the new mount however can’t work out how to completely remove the old mount from under the rear fender in order to securely mount the new holder. Any info would be much appreciated!
Normally it is very simple to remove the oem plastic license plate bracket that is mounted in the fender. Just remove the rear bolts from fender struts ( the ones with the nut on the inside ) and then the upper one in the fender and the
whole part comes of, if there is a metal bracket you mount this one back after removing the plastic stuff.
Thanks, I was having trouble removing the metal part as it sticks a small part of the way out past the fender. If it’s as simple as you say I’ll have another look. Thanks again.
So I’ve just been informed that the export version of the Slim (I’m in Australia) are mounted under the rear fender opposes to the US side mount version. Any ideas on how to remove the under the fender export version?

That was what I was talking about , the Australian version has the same bracket under the fender as the Euro version.
