Brain dead. Pulled out in 3rd gear on 18 Heritage
And the primary chain clanged against the primary cover. Guess I better pull the inspection cover and see if the chain is too loose. Have heard that can be an issue. When Harley first came out with the auto tensioner they often got too tight. Now it appears they can be too loose.

Sure it was the primary chain and not the compensator...? Starting out in 3rd gear can cause a lot of shaking, bucking, and noise from several sources....
In any case, shouldn't take much time at all, and like a quart of new fluid, to pull the primary cover and check primary chain tension...
Do whatever will ease your conscience... but you may have no problem at all......
