Looks like those are further back than stock forward controls. How tall are you? Go to Hognutz and look at the forward controls. I just put a chrome set on our 1995 softail custom . They are a little lower and out than stock. You can get 2 inch or 3 inch extended in the same style there too. Look at there web site and look at this part number . #mu45885. They are a work of art. You will need to remove your stock master cylinder and reservoir and get a 35degree brake fitting and correct thread banjo bolt, and a brake line from the new master cylinder to your existing rear brake switch.

That setup looks stock position for softail, i think it's an optical illusion based on the angle of the pic that it looks non-stock. The Arlen Ness 3" extensions kit comes w brake line and shift rod. cheapest mod out there and relatively easy to install - remove foot control bracket, install plate extension, replace bracket and button up the extras. your seat and handlebars will go a long way in this arena as well.

What does the fact you’re an animal Doctor have to do with your height?

I think there was a bit of sarcasm there. Most veterans don’t feel the need to advertise it in that manner. Many put year, branch, unit, etc. in their sig but when it’s displayed like that it seems like it’s being used unnecessarily. Like “Look at me more because...”

Everyone who has served our great Nation deserves gratitude, but if it looks like it’s used for personal gain, it kinda cheapens it.

Just my .02.

And of course, thank you for your service.

I don't know how big you are. I am a big guy and I can't figure out why big guys buy softails. Every one I have riden feels like a tricycle under me. Sorry if I offended. Just thinking out loud.

How big are you, what would you suggest, and what do you ride (since you're thinking out loud, lol)? Honestly, not one make or manufacturer is built or designed for the taller than average rider. I've been told BMW will get you higher more upright, but it's not a cruiser style. Indian maybe? Sat on one but had the same, cramped feeling as HD Touring for us taller guys. I've been on/owned all HD models except Road King and Sportster, and the Touring model foot controls are worse than the softail....the footboard is mounted way higher (or at least it seems to be). Same with the boards on FB's and heritage, seems higher. Softail's have that cool, low in the saddle factor that no other model offers. Not dissing on other models at all, either.
To the OP, thanks for your services to our country and check out the Ness stuff. Either that, or install a crash bar and mount some highway pegs to it, there are a number of adjustable sets of mounts/pegs that can be had to get you stretched out (if you like a crash bar on a softail, that is).
