I want to switch out the 37" wide stock bars on my FXFBS for a 30" HD drag bar. The dealer says that this requires replacing the upper brake line, installing a brake line adapter and replacing the upper clutch cable. Does that make sense?

I could see maybe the clutch line needing to be replaced with a smaller one since you are going with a more narrow bar. That might create a lot of extra line.
Too long of a clutch line is very noticeable.
Just depends if you are putting longer risers on.
If you replace the brake line, the adapter is needed because the new line comes with only a male or female connwconne, I forget which, so the adapter will have the correct connection and the 90 degree bend.
I went with 11in risers was the 3.5in rise on the bars and had went with a 10in longer clutch line and brake line. All my working needed to be extended.

I put 8in riser with 2.5 rise 31 wide moto bars on and all stock stuff works. Clutch cable and brake line required some adjusting but it works.
Looks good! What risers did you finally decide to go with? What adjustments did you have to make for all the stock wires and cables to work with easentially 10" of rise? And can you post some more pics?

I will take some more pics over the weekend. The risers are Kraus isolated pullback risers. I originally wanted only 7 inches of rise so I bought the 5 risers and 2 extensions. After installing that wasnt enough so I added another 1 extension. Knowing what I know now I should have bought the 8 risers strait from Kraus instead of this stupid riser extension setup but it actually came out pretty good. The bars are the forbidden motorcycles fly moto bars. I figure its a rise of about 6 over stock. I pulled the plug Cadi out and plugged everything in after pulling through new bars and risers and the all fit back in the cadi with the rubber grommit reinstalled. I will say that is max I would go without extensions. The clutch cable had a tiny bit of slack under the bike so I pulled a touch and it fits fine Im thinking maybe get an inch or so longer cable eventually but its fine the way it is. The brake line just required a twist of the banjo and the elbow. You could prob add an inch to it but its just fine.

Thanks that's good to know. If you are 6" over stock that's about 10" of rise total since the stock risers are about 4". That's perfect. The riser/bar set up I'm thinking about have a total of 10" of rise, 8" risers 2" rise moto bars, so it should work with the stock wires, clutch cable and brake line. Thanks again for the info.
Im running thrashin supply low bend bar (2.5 rise 30 in wide) and just replaced my 4 inch riser with a 5.5 inch 1.25 pull back drag specialties riser. All stock wires/cables fit.

I changed out my FXFBS handlebar for the Harley Fat Drag Bar. It brings the hands a couple inches closer, while maintaining the flat drag shape. I didn't have to change any lines or add any adapters.
