I just picked up a 03 springer today . It came with 2 key fobs, but I can't tell they do anything. Pressed the buttons and nothing happened when I tried to put it in transport mode. I have no owners manual so any info would be helpful. I am wondering if it does not have security feature.

im in the same boat.. just bought an 05 springer in December with a key fob and no user manual. One of these nights I’ll grab a new battery for it and figure it out. I don’t know anything about them and actually wish it didn’t have it, but it is what it is.

Anyway i I was able to find my manual at that link. Just need to read it I guess lol

edit: I would recommend a service manual as well. Those will cost you, but worth it. You can have a dealer get you the official HD one for about 90 bucks or get a cheaper one from Clymer for like 40.

 

I'm guessing the battery in the fob is dead. Put a new 2032 battery in the fob and press and hold the button til the turn signals flash twice.
There's a red security light on the speedometer that will flash when armed. It may not have a siren as that is optional, but it does disable the ignition system to prevent starting without the key.
To disarm press the fob twice quickly, you should get both turn signals flashing once indicating it's disarmed. Hope that helps.

 

Battery is a 2032.

 

It's possible that the fobs were never programmed. This happened to me when I bought my 08 FLSTC from a dealer. I took it back, they programmed the fobs and all is well.
The scary part is that anyone could have driven off with by bike until then!

 

When I "acquired" my 03, I found that the button needs to be held
down for at least a couple of seconds to arm it. Then 2 quick clicks to dis
arm it.
I did need to repl the batteries (Yes they are 2032s)
