Default 88B in softail vs 88 in touring

I have a road glide I bought new in 2003. A week ago I bought a 03 springer to go with it. My goal is to have a anniversary bike of each platform, but that's another story. Anyway, I was real surprised at the difference in the feel of the engine in the softail compared to my Road Glide. It also doesn't have the mechanical noise the Glide has as well. This is the first softail I've ever owned or ridden so it was a eye opener. It's much quicker, but that is due weighing less than the touring model. I do think the softail also has a stage 1 flash as it has screaming eagle pipes and air cleaner. PO didn't know. I think it will be a fun bike.

My brother would love to sell his 100th Anniversary Sportster. He just isn't going to get the amount he wants for it. He thinks he can get $5000 for it. Ha ha ha. He couldn't even swing that on a trade-in.

But to someone collecting specific bikes, he might. It's well maintained, just not straight up blue-book worth that.

According to the 03 HD dry weight specs the Springer weighs in at 672 lbs and the Road Glide is 731 lbs. not a whole lot different. I’m assuming wet weights of both should be similar too. The B motor is definitely smoother with those counterbalancers. The one thing I noticed is how much more sturdier the softail is compared to the other rubber mounted models.

Gotta agree. I have a 2016 Heritage, the wife has a 2013 1200C (Sportster). I hate riding the Sportster! It's just so... squirrely. And it vibrates! My Heritage is sooooo smooth, comparatively.

It's funny
Any more and the Road Glides are the cookie cutter bikes

FL Springers PEG the Cool Meter.

As far as smooth goes, the Springer will have less vibes @ lwr speeds (idle)
and the Glide (should) be dead nuts smooth at freeway speeds.

It is funny, one wonders why they didn't use the B engine coupled with rubber mounts in the touring bikes. One motor spread across all big twins platforms. Waiting for the brown Santa to bring some new bars to be installed tonight hopefully.
