S&S big bore kit for twin cam

Looking for reviews on this kit? What kind of power bump? Should cams be upgraded too? Pros and cons? Thanks in advance!

I believe a couple of the forum sponsors like Kirby Vee twin and Scott hillside will bore your cylinders, fit pistons and rings and with cams for a 98" setup for I believe $1100. worth it to give them a call...

Not a lot of cons to 100Hp and 113lb of torque (stock is roughly 72Hp and 90lb of torque)

We do recommend you do cams while you have it apart (to see maximum benefit of the big bore), but is not a mandatory move.

My bike is a 2000 Heritage. Looking for more low to middle power than top end. What cams do you recommend?

Still on my first cup of coffee so;
Have you called S&S and talked with them? (PS, Great customer support)
Have you looked here and on other forums at Dyno charts for similar builds?
Do you understand that the motor is a system, that changing one item (intake, exhaust, etc.) effects everything. That translates into $$$$$. Don't forget the Cam's (gear or chain drives) (oil pump) Clutch and Transmission.
Depending on what you decide to do, some things will half to be done and others just checked.

Coffee kicking in:
With a Bike that old I would think about a Stage Two build (cams and head work + exhaust, Tune). You will NOT get your $$$ back when you sell the bike. Its your $$$$.

you'll never get your money back with performance upgrades, however if you slip in a 124"er then maybe you'll get something backk.....

OP, as for cam choice I know Hillside likes the 570 cam... but it all depends on what head work, and compression..

What are the good points/bad points of doing mods in post 2 vs post 3?

98hotrodfatboy 05-25-2019 04:32 PM

Well for starters post 2 is getting you cams to complete the build.. Post 3, 113/100 will never happen without cams... and even that's questionable without head work...
