Hi all, I need some help.
Riding home today and when I throttle off the bike stalls like the idle is set too low - starts again with a flick of the starter.
Also, at the same time, no speed shown on the dial, speedo has all the lights and normal displays, just a needle not moving.
I only mention both because they seemed to have come up at the same time, I can't see how they're related - but it might help diagnosis.
Before tonight I've had no problems at all - any ideas?
When the speedo does that it is usually the speed sensor that goes into the tranny. Pull that out and clean it off and usually everything goes back to normal. Not sure about the other problem.
Just throwing this out there. I went for a ride this weekend and after taking a rest stop the bike wouldn't start. All lights worked but they're all LED's.
I carry a jump pack and got her started. Road home about 60 miles. No Tach, or directionals.
Turns out my voltage regulator wasn't charging and I only had 8.4 volts when I got home.
RESOLVED.
Error code reported VSS high.
Pulled, cleaned and replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor, no change.
Replaced the sensor and all the problems have disappeared.
Thanks for the help guys.
Had the same problem, plus odometer doesn't register and turn sig auto-cancel didn't work. VSS $46 at the dealer. Guess that new Harley t-shirt will have to wait.LOL
