What for is this wire & plug
Hello,
aside from bad craftsmanship (blame it all on the previous owner!), can anyone help me what I see on below pictures. I found this wire and plug just between the oil filter and the front header pipe on the right side of the bike. Cannot really reach it behind the header and trace it anywhere useful... Bike is a 2012 Blackline Thanks already, niv https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...a11c5d5934.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...8ea92f8126.jpg |
Do you have a Harley service manual? Find the appropriate section and look for a green wire with yellow tracer.

Another reason to avoid used bikes. looks like something was wired in and last owner did not want to let it go with the bike.

It looks like a 90 degree push on connector for the oil pressure switch.
Part # 72405-98BK Is your oil light on with the engine running? |
Thanks a lot! Engine oil light is only on before actually starting the engine, all runs well afterwards. Still something to check up on, as this looks really silly...
I agree, used bikes can be tricky, but sometimes they just come at a discount that is unbeatable... Also, I checked the manual, the yellow/green wire didn't really get me anywhere, in my case it is also the one that is crappily attached to the 90° connector. When I have the time, I'll take the stuff apart and follow up on all the wiring. thanks and best regards, niv |
That looks like some fishey backyard mechanic wiring to me . Where does that green wire go to ,And is there any voltage at the connector ?
